MINNEAPOLIS: Officer help call/Shots fired - 9xx 21st Ave. S. - An officer reported “shots fired” and requested immediate assistance inside an apartment building. - Police report there were shots fired from inside a unit. Unknown injuries at this point, and SWAT is en route.

MINNEAPOLIS—A man believed to have initially fired gunshots in an apartment on Wednesday night was fatally shot by officers early Thursday after a standoff.

As officers were responding to a 911 caller hearing gunfire inside the apartment building at 904 21st. Ave. S. shortly before 9:40 p.m., they heard at least four more.

An officer radioed to dispatch “shots fired” and requested immediate assistance inside, according to initial dispatch audio reviewed by MN CRIME.
