Side-by-Side Driver Dies in Collision with Car Near Le Sueur

 

An 82-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon in a crash involving a side-by-side and a car in rural Le Sueur County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded just after 4 p.m. Tuesday to the intersection of County Road 15 and Le Sueur Creek Road in Sharon Township.

Initial information indicates a 2005 Toyota Camry was traveling south on County Road 15 when it collided with a John Deere Gator side-by-side headed east on Le Sueur Creek Road.

Allen Gregory Wilmes, the 82-year-old driver of the side-by-side, was ejected in the crash. Deputies say lifesaving measures were attempted but Wilmes died at the scene. The 16-year-old girl driving the Toyota was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation. Le Center Fire, Le Center Ambulance, Mayo Air Care and the Minnesota State Patrol assisted on scene.
