Remains Identified in Decade-Old Missing Woman Case
BY MN CRIME STAFF
A decade after a young woman disappeared, authorities say remains found in a New Brighton wetland have been identified as belonging to her.
The discovery has renewed a long-running investigation, with the public urged to provide for any information.
The Mounds View Police Department says it received a missing person report on Haley Elizabeth Aymar on Dec. 29, 2015, after she hadn’t been heard from for weeks. Aymar was 24 years old at the time and was last seen by a friend in downtown Minneapolis on Dec. 3, 2015, the same day as her final social media activity.

Investigators say they pursued numerous leads and tips over the next 10 years as the case went cold.
On March 1, 2025, a human skull was discovered in the Lake Jones area of New Brighton. The New Brighton Department of Public Safety led a three-day search of the surrounding wooded and wetland terrain for additional evidence. Officials say a dental record comparison completed in early 2026 confirmed the skull belonged to Aymar.

According to authorities, Aymar was reported missing by her mother in December 2015 and had no contact with family or friends after Dec. 3 of that year. Records list her as 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 120 pounds at the time, with blond or strawberry-colored hair and blue eyes. She had multiple tattoos on both arms, a wrist and her back, including a lotus on her upper right arm and a Minneapolis city tattoo on her lower back.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about Aymar’s whereabouts or the people she spent time with in early December 2015 to come forward. Tips can be submitted through the city’s cold case portal or by calling 651-288-4135.
