DeWalt has multiple criminal sexual conduct convictions out of Wright County from an incident in 2005.

The probation officer reported seeing blood on DeWalt, who was also reportedly naked, and saw an unresponsive woman in the bathtub. The probation officer left the apartment and then called 911, police say.

Saint Paul police officers arrived minutes later, forced entry into the apartment and began life-saving measures on the woman. Radio traffic indicated that a knife was seen on the suspect’s bed and officers reported the man had been pouring cold water on the woman.

Saint Paul Fire medics transported the woman to Regions Hospital and police later confirmed she is expected to survive. Paramedics at the scene noted evidence of an overdose and administered Narcan, though SPPD did not immediately release more information on the details of her current condition.

DeWalt was arrested and booked into the Ramsey County Jail on a probation violation. No formal charges had been filed as of Tuesday night and police have not yet said if the woman was assaulted, with the incident remaining under investigation.

In 2005, DeWalt was convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in Wright County after dragging her outside during a late-night gathering and violently attacking her. He was originally sentenced to life in prison due to multiple aggravating factors, but that sentence was later reversed by the Minnesota Supreme Court because the charges were not brought by grand jury indictment. His convictions were upheld and he was re-sentenced to 12 years in prison.
