Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries.
The suspect, identified in jail records as 39-year-old Travis William Lester, of Circle Pines, was located just after 11 p.m. and arrested without incident during a traffic stop. He was booked into the Hennepin County Jail early Saturday morning, where he remains in custody. Lester was received into the jail at 2:18 a.m. September 6 and is currently being held at the Public Safety Facility without bail.
Records show Lester has been booked on probable cause for felony first-degree assault. Formal charges are expected in the coming days.
Champlin police said the victims and suspect knew each other. Officers issued a brief shelter-in-place order for nearby residents as they searched the area, later lifting it after confirming the suspect had left in a vehicle. Several neighboring agencies assisted in the response.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims and the case remains under investigation.
