Responding officers secured the scene and began an investigation that police say points to a murder-suicide. The man, described as being in his 50s, was found with a firearm near his body. Detectives are working to determine the full circumstances leading up to the incident.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara called the incident an “unimaginable, heartbreaking tragedy” and expressed condolences to the child’s mother as well as to the officers and investigators who responded to the scene.
