Motorcyclist Dies in Stearns County Collision

 

A man from Glenwood died Thursday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Sauk Centre Township, the State Patrol says.

The crash happened around 8:51 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 28 and Highway 71.

A Freightliner straight truck driven by a 32-year-old man from Saint Paul was heading east on Highway 28 when it struck a Harley Davidson motorcycle. The Harley had been stopped at a stop sign behind a Chevrolet Silverado. The truck then hit the Chevrolet in the intersection as it was turning north onto Highway 71.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 63-year-old man from Glenwood, died at the scene. His name will be released by authorities by noon Friday.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 22-year-old man from Alexandria, was not hurt. The truck driver was also uninjured.

Troopers said all drivers involved were wearing seat belts or helmets as applicable and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Road conditions were reported as dry.

The Sauk Centre Police Department, Sauk Centre Fire Department and Sauk Centre Ambulance assisted at the scene.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the motorcyclist.
