The victim was transported by Sanford Ambulance to a local hospital. An update on their condition has not been released as of publication.

The suspect, 37-year-old Joshua Carney, of Moorhead, fled on foot before being located by responding officers. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Clay County Jail.

Authorities say he is being held pending formal charges from the Clay County Attorney’s Office for felony second-degree assault. Investigators said Carney and the victim knew each other, and police confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
