Arrest Made After Gun Scare at Stillwater Football Game

One person was taken into custody Thursday night after students at Stillwater Area High School overheard him talk about having a gun at the football game.

According to district officials, the students immediately notified police officers already on site.

Officers quickly located the person, who was carrying a BB gun. Authorities confirmed he is not part of the Stillwater school community and was arrested at the scene.

Superintendent Mike Funk said the quick actions of the students and the immediate response by law enforcement allowed the situation to be resolved without injury.

“Because of their efforts, the situation was resolved quickly and safely,” Funk said in a message to families.

District leaders acknowledged heightened concerns in light of this week’s tragedy elsewhere and reassured families that safety remains their highest priority.

Authorities have not released the identity of the person taken into custody.
