When they arrived, they found 37-year-old Justin Adams Marshall with life-threatening gunshot wounds on the sidewalk near the intersection. Officers began CPR before he was taken to Hennepin Healthcare, where he later died.

Initial information from Minneapolis Police indicates Marshall had been speaking with someone in a vehicle when that person got out and opened fire, striking the victim before fleeing the scene.
