Man Critically Wounded in Downtown Minneapolis Shooting
A man was found critically injured in a vehicle Friday evening in downtown Minneapolis after a shooting.
Police say the man had been shot earlier and crashed his vehicle a short distance away before officers arrived.
Minneapolis officers were called around 6:34 p.m. to the area of 3rd Avenue South and 9th Street South for a report of a shooting. They located a man in his 20s slumped over in a vehicle with at least one gunshot wound. Officers began CPR and provided other medical aid until paramedics transported the man to Hennepin Healthcare.

Initial information indicates the shooting happened near 5th Avenue South and 9th Street South. Investigators believe the man drove away after being shot, struck a vehicle with a family inside, and continued driving for another half block before crashing and coming to a stop. The occupants of the vehicle that was struck were not injured, police said late Friday.
Officers found evidence of gunfire both at the scene of the initial shooting and on the victim’s vehicle. The area was taped off as officers canvassed for witnesses. MPD Forensic Scientists documented the scene and collected evidence.
No arrests have been made and investigators are working to determine what led to the shooting.
UPDATE | Thursday, April 24
MPD confirmed today that the victim in this shooting died of his injuries at the hospital and a homicide investigation is underway. There have been no arrests announced and the victim has not yet been identified.
