Man Arrested at Hugo Pool Pleads Guilty to Sexual Conduct Charge
A Washington County man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting minors at a community pool in Hugo this summer.
According to court records, 44-year-old Jeremy John Miller admitted to one count of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a juvenile under 18.

Miller was originally charged with two counts after Washington County deputies responded to reports on July 28 that he was inappropriately touching children at the Farnham Avenue North pool.
Deputies interviewed multiple young witnesses at the scene. A 14-year-old girl told investigators Miller made sexual comments toward her and then grabbed her buttocks and crotch while in the pool. Surveillance footage later showed him throwing her into the water after she told him to stop. A 13-year-old boy also reported that Miller grabbed his genitals several times while they were playing football in the pool. Other adults described Miller’s behavior toward the children as “creepy,” and several juveniles provided deputies with photos identifying him as the suspect.
Miller was arrested the following day after community members saw him return to the pool. He initially denied intentionally touching the juveniles but acknowledged that if any contact occurred, it may have been an accident.

In the plea petition, Miller admitted guilt to one of the counts in exchange for dismissal of the second. The agreement includes a stay of imposition of sentence, credit for time served and release pending sentencing. He must complete a presentence investigation and psychosexual evaluation before returning to court.
If the judge accepts the agreement, Miller will face standard sex offender probation requirements, including registration, treatment and restrictions on contact with minors as determined by probation and treatment providers. He will also remain subject to a 10-year conditional release period if a prison term is imposed in the future.
Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 10.
