A Saint Paul man is facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening two women with a rifle during a domestic dispute.

The incident occurred on May 8, 2026, at a residence in Saint Paul, where police responded to a 911 hangup call.

Daniel Lee Vadnais, 31, of Saint Paul, faces charges of 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, making threats of violence with reckless disregard for risk and two counts of possessing a firearm or ammunition after being convicted of a violent crime. The complaint details that police were alerted when a female caller reported that a male had pointed a gun at her and her mother. Upon arrival, officers found Vadnais’s mother, who claimed everything was fine, but witnesses indicated otherwise.

The witness statements revealed that Vadnais became involved in a heated argument with the women after they confronted his mother. One witness reported that Vadnais threatened to shoot the women, stating, “B****, I’ll shoot you right now,” before retrieving a rifle from the basement and pointing it at them. Another witness described the situation as escalating quickly, with Vadnais threatening everyone present. The police noted that one of the women expressed fear for her life during the confrontation.

Vadnais was detained at the scene and later stated that he only threatened to beat one of the women if she assaulted his mother. However, the evidence and witness accounts contradicted his claims, indicating that he had indeed pointed a firearm at the victims.

Vadnais is currently in custody at the Ramsey County Adult Detention Center. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 4, 2026.
