While police officers were outside their squad cars, SPPD says the suspect driver suddenly accelerated and struck three officers before fleeing in the vehicle. The department later confirmed the officers sustained minor injuries and were later treated and released from Regions Hospital.

Additional Saint Paul squads pursued the fleeing vehicle until it was abandoned on the 2300 block of Energy Park Drive. Officers then tracked the suspect, described only as an adult male, who had run from the area on foot. He was located and taken into custody without further incident.
