Police are investigating a shooting Saturday night in Saint Paul that left two men hospitalized.

The gunshots were first reported near the Wendy’s at 1825 Suburban Ave. around 10:30 p.m., as multiple 911 callers said they witnessed a “shootout.”

First responding officers arrived to find a man lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds to his torso. He was taken to Regions Hospital by Saint Paul Fire medics and preliminary information indicates the shooting happened outside the businesses along Suburban Avenue, the police department said.

A second man, believed to be in his early 20s, was found about two blocks north near White Bear Avenue and Old Hudson Road inside a vehicle with what appeared to be a graze wound to his head. He was also transported to Regions Hospital for medical care.

Radio dispatches described the scene as a “shootout” involving possibly two gunmen, including one man witnesses reported seeing fleeing eastbound on a blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle. A gun and at least one spent shell casing was recovered in the Wendy’s parking lot by officers searching for evidence, the dispatches said.
