85-year-old Man Dies After Head-on Crash in Lakeville

 

One person has died following a two-vehicle crash late Saturday morning in Lakeville.

According to the Lakeville Police Department, the crash occurred at 11:42 a.m. Oct. 11 on Cedar Avenue just south of 185th Street West.

Officers arrived and immediately began medical care for the drivers of both vehicles, who were seriously hurt.

Preliminary information indicates a 2011 Jaguar XJ was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Cedar Avenue when it collided with a 2022 Tesla Model 3. The driver of the Jaguar, an 85-year-old man from Lakeville, and the driver of the Tesla, a 44-year-old woman from Farmington, were both transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police later confirmed that the Lakeville man did not survive. The woman remains hospitalized, and her current condition has not been released.

Authorities said both drivers were the only occupants in their vehicles and there were no initial signs of impairment.

A Minnesota State Patrol crash reconstruction specialist responded to assist Lakeville Police in determining what caused the crash. The Lakeville Fire Department, Farmington Fire Department, Farmington Police Department and Allina EMS also assisted at the scene.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the man’s identity at a later time. The investigation remains ongoing.
