When officers arrived, they found an adult man with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where staff determined one wound had punctured his lung and he required intubation.
The victim told officers he had been drinking tea inside the store when he was suddenly attacked from behind. He said he recognized the suspect as a friend of a man previously charged with making threats of violence against him in a separate case. Surveillance video from inside the store showed the suspect entering at 9:03 a.m. and charging at the victim, stabbing him in the back and shoulder. The two struggled before the victim ran outside for help. The suspect fled the store about a minute later.

Police released images of the suspect to the public on Sept. 17, and multiple responses helped identify him as 25-year-old Temsco Dariys Kwitee. A Brooklyn Park officer who had attended high school with Kwitee also confirmed his identity. The victim later picked Kwitee out of a photo lineup conducted by investigators.
Kwitee is charged with first-degree assault causing great bodily harm and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. He faces up to 20 years in prison on the most serious charge. He remains in custody and is expected to make an initial court appearance Tuesday morning.
