Officers found an armed man in a backyard area between North High Street and North Lakeshore Drive who refused commands as they tried to speak with him.
As police worked to get him to surrender, they learned a victim was inside the building. Police entered an apartment in the same building that houses Subway and found an adult male who had been shot. He was first taken to a local hospital, then transferred to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. His condition had not been released as of publication.
Officers used less-lethal tools to subdue the suspect, who surrendered and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. The extent of his injuries was not immediately disclosed. Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public and the investigation remains active. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved.
