When first responders arrived, they found 62-year-old Rory John Strachota had been ejected from a 2000 Polaris ATV. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said Strachota was the operator of the ATV at the time of the crash. No other people were reported hurt. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Grand Rapids Police Department, Trout Lake Fire Department and North Memorial Ambulance. A tow service was also called to remove the ATV.

The crash remains under investigation. Authorities have not said what may have caused the ATV to overturn.
