The complaint says the driver pulled over, blocking the single lane for northbound traffic, then reached for a firearm and pointed it at the victim. The driver got out and approached the victim while Alexandro Perez Santiago told the driver to take the victim’s gold necklace.
Prosecutors say the driver forcefully removed the necklace from the victim’s neck, breaking it in the process. The driver then tried to hit the victim with the firearm but missed, striking his own knuckle against the victim’s ear. Both men returned to their vehicle and left the area.
The complaint states the victim walked home and, once there, saw the same vehicle drive by the front of his house. The victim hid from sight until the vehicle left. Surveillance footage corroborated the victim’s account, according to the complaint.
Alexandro Perez Santiago is charged with first-degree aggravated robbery, which alleges he aided and encouraged the use of a firearm to forcibly take property from the victim.
