A man used a stolen credit card to buy ammunition and other items at stores in Eden Prairie, prosecutors say.
Amondo James West, who was 23 at the time of the alleged offense, faces three felony charges: possessing ammunition after a conviction for a crime of violence and two counts of financial transaction card fraud, according to a complaint filed October 28 in Hennepin County District Court.
According to the complaint, on August 16, 2026, the victim reported that his wallet had been taken from his parked car in Carver County. Shortly after, one of the victim’s credit cards was used to purchase about $631 worth of ammunition at a Scheel’s store in Eden Prairie. Another transaction using the victim’s credit card was made at a Target store in Eden Prairie, with purchases totaling $932.

Investigators reviewed video surveillance from both stores and identified Amondo James West as the person using the stolen credit card to make the purchases. The complaint states that West was identified in part by a visible tattoo. The victim told investigators he did not know West and had not given anyone permission to use or take his cards or wallet.
West is charged with possessing ammunition after a conviction for a crime of violence because, according to the complaint, he was previously convicted of threats of violence in Ramsey County on July 31, 2025. That conviction prohibits him from lawfully possessing firearms or ammunition.
