A Shakopee man bit an officer and fought with several others while resisting arrest after police tracked him down following a 911 call about a domestic altercation, according to charges.
Khalid Mohamed Muridi, 26, faces three counts of fourth-degree assault of a peace officer, one count of obstructing legal process and one count of interfering with emergency communications.
According to the complaint, officers responded to a suspicious call at a Shakopee residence at about 2:07 a.m. on Sept. 10. Dispatchers reported hearing yelling and a male voice saying, “What did I do?” and “I’m done,” along with a female yelling in the background. Officers arrived and saw a woman in the garage who ignored them and closed the door.

A man at the home told officers there had been a fight between the woman and Muridi, who sometimes stayed at the residence but didn’t live there.
The witness told police he called 911 after seeing Muridi and the woman in a verbal altercation. While he was trying to call for help, Muridi took his phone, interfering with the 911 call, then left the scene on foot before officers arrived. Officers learned Muridi had several warrants, including a nationwide extradition felony warrant out of Hennepin County and began searching the area.
While officers were still at the residence, the woman left in a vehicle. Officers followed and saw someone run from the treeline and get into the passenger seat. Police stopped the vehicle and confirmed Muridi was inside. When officers tried to arrest him, Muridi became combative, assaulted officers and resisted being taken into custody.
The complaint states Muridi bit one officer and attempted to bite and headbutt others, grabbing multiple officers during the struggle. Officers noted a strong odor of alcohol on Muridi’s breath.
During the arrest, the woman tried to pull Muridi back into the car as officers attempted to restrain him. Muridi continued to be aggressive and ultimately had to be medically sedated after not responding to paramedics’ medications.
The charges allege Muridi assaulted at least three officers, interfered with a 911 call and resisted arrest during the encounter.
The charges were filed September 14 in Scott County District Court.

Minnesota classifies assault by degree under § 609.221 (first), § 609.222 (second), § 609.223 (third), § 609.2231 (fourth) and § 609.224 (fifth). First-degree assault, alleging great bodily harm, carries up to 20 years in prison. The lower degrees range from misdemeanor up to 10-year felony exposure depending on weapon use and harm.
