A man allegedly fired multiple shots into a Duluth house packed with people, striking a young woman in the arm and grazing a young man’s leg before fleeing with a group of companions, court documents say.

Isaac Hugh Brenny, of Duluth, faces nine counts of attempted 2nd-degree murder and one count of possessing a firearm after a conviction for a crime of violence, according to charges filed Thursday in Saint Louis County District Court.

According to the complaint, the shooting happened shortly after midnight on June 16, 2026, at a residence in Duluth. Officers responded to a report of gunfire and found about 20 people sheltering in the basement. A young woman had been shot through the arm, and a young man reported being grazed by a bullet in the leg.

Witnesses told investigators that earlier in the evening, people had gathered at Rice’s Point Boat Landing, also known as Port Terminal. Brenny was present with a juvenile male and was described as acting aggressive, displaying a handgun and saying he was going to kill someone. Later, a group left the boat landing for a gathering at a house on Otsego Street.

Brenny and several others arrived at the house, where a juvenile female resident told them to leave. Brenny reportedly responded that he was going to “shoot this bitch up.”

As Brenny and his group left through the rear door, he stopped near a tree in the front yard and began firing his handgun into the occupied house, including into the living room where several people were gathered. The young woman was struck in the arm, and others crawled to safety while someone used a belt as a tourniquet. Brenny then ran toward a truck and continued shooting into the house before fleeing with five companions.

Officers later found the truck heading southbound on Interstate 35 and stopped it on Highway 33 in Carlton County. Brenny fled from the rear door and ran across the highway, repeatedly reaching for his waistband before being detained in a ditch. Deputies found a handgun near a vaping device along his flight path. The firearm matched witness descriptions, including a mounted light and its magazine was empty.

During transport to jail, Brenny made several statements, calling the shooting “a simple little fucking shooting” and asking if officers had found his gun. He also told officers that he had been attacked and said, “you’d shoot them bitch ass niggas, just like I did.” In a recorded jail call, Brenny told the victim, “Some people were tweaking, and I kinda shot at them and yeah,” and claimed, “they came at me, they started the bullshit.” Investigators later found nine bullet holes in the house.

A court date has not yet been set.
