A man died and another man was wounded in an overnight shooting in south Minneapolis, police say, with homicide investigators now working to determine what led to the gunfire.

Fifth Precinct officers were called around 1:20 a.m. on June 21 to a report of a shooting in the 2100 block of Lyndale Avenue South, according to a Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson. Officers found a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound shortly after they arrived.

Emergency responders took him to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he died despite lifesaving efforts.

Police later learned that a second man, who may have been involved in the shooting, had arrived at North Memorial Medical Center in a private vehicle with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
