According to the criminal complaint, Osler was later found with a gunshot wound to his upper back. He claimed he didn’t know who shot him and asked to be taken to the hospital.
A witness reported seeing Osler stop between two garages after the shooting and recognized him, inviting him inside to treat his injury. Before entering the home, Osler allegedly discarded a firearm into the bushes, which was later recovered by police.
A police canine indicated the location of the firearm, a Springfield .40 caliber handgun, which was also location and was out of ammunition, the court documents say.
Surveillance footage captured the shooting, showing Osler firing at the two men before they fled in a black SUV. Additional witnesses reported seeing Osler attempt to enter a cargo van during the chaos, and gunfire was heard in the vicinity.
Osler later told police he was walking when he heard gunshots but denied having fired a weapon, according to the complaint. He requested an attorney when questioned about the firearm that was recovered from the area.
Osler is currently in custody at the Ramsey County Jail, with his next court appearance set for June 23. If convicted of attempted 2nd-degree murder, he faces a maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
