A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 252 in Brooklyn Park early Tuesday morning, authorities say.

The striking driver left the scene and authorities are still searching for suspects.

Brooklyn Park police officers responded to the crash near the intersection of Highway 252 and 73rd Avenue North around 1:23 a.m. on May 19, the Brooklyn Park Police Department said. Officers found the victim and several car parts scattered nearby.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a dark grey Toyota RAV4 was heading southbound on Highway 252 when it struck the pedestrian between Brookdale Drive and 73rd Avenue North. The driver fled the scene after the collision.

The SUV has damage to several areas, the State Patrol said. The front passenger side bumper is damaged, the passenger side mirror is missing, the fog lamp on the passenger side is missing and the passenger side door rain guard is damaged.

The victim’s name is being withheld pending family notification. The State Patrol is handling the investigation.
