According to the complaint, the victim’s brother reported that he was a daily user of methamphetamine and fentanyl. The brother said the victim had been living at the residence with his parents, who were out of town at the time.
A forensic examination of the victim’s phone revealed numerous text messages between him and Doran, indicating a pattern of drug transactions. Doran allegedly sold both heroin and methamphetamine to the victim for years, the court documents say.
Detectives who arrived at the scene later found additional drugs in the victim’s bedroom, including a baggie containing a brown, rock-like substance that tested positive for fentanyl and heroin.
Doran allegedly admitted to selling drugs to the victim and confirmed that she had delivered heroin to him shortly before his death. She expressed surprise at his overdose, saying he had never overdosed on her drugs before.
According to court records, Doran has a significant criminal history including multiple felony convictions for drug possession. She was on felony probation at the time of this incident following a guilty plea to 5th-degree drug possession.
Doran is currently in custody at the Anoka County Jail. If convicted, she faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison for the 3rd-degree murder charge.
