The shooting happened around 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, 2025, near the intersection of 15th Avenue South and E. Lake Street in Minneapolis. Officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired and found a man lying on the side of E. Lake Street with a gunshot wound to his upper leg. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead from the wound to his femoral artery.

A second victim, a juvenile male, had been taken to the same hospital by a passerby. He had been shot multiple times.

The juvenile told officers he was walking back to his vehicle when a man approached and said “give up everything” before shooting him in the knee. He said he fell to the ground and struggled with the shooter, knocking the magazine loose from the firearm. The shooter then beat him in the face with the gun and asked “you want to die over this?” before shooting him again in the left side of his abdomen. The shooter then fled south on 15th Avenue.

Surveillance video from the area showed the two victims arriving in a vehicle and parking on the east side of 15th Avenue, south of E. Lake Street. They stayed in the area for a period of time before walking back toward their vehicle around 1:47 a.m. As they reached the car, two men approached them.

One of the men wore a red hooded sweatshirt with the words ”NO RISK NO REWARD” in white lettering on the front, black pants and white shoes with red accents near the heels. Investigators identified that man as Harris.

The approximate location of the fatal shooting in south Minneapolis

Harris approached the adult victim at the driver’s side of the vehicle, according to the complaint. A physical altercation broke out and the man was shot in the leg. He ran from Harris before collapsing around the corner on E. Lake Street, leaving a trail of blood from where they had been fighting to where he fell.

At the same time, Davenport approached the juvenile victim at the passenger’s side of the vehicle. Surveillance video showed Davenport and the teenager going to the ground, and Davenport striking the juvenile with what appeared to be a firearm. Davenport then ran south on 15th Avenue.

The juvenile was seen crawling into the street, where an uninvolved passerby picked him up and drove him to the hospital.

The two suspects were seen leaving the area together after the shooting, the court documents say.

Investigators learned that Harris and Davenport were involved in narcotics sales and considered the area near 15th Avenue and E. Lake Street their ”territory.” Investigators believe the victims may have been in the area selling narcotics as well, and that the defendants attempted to rob them.

Harris was linked to the shooting through a Facebook post made hours before the incident. The post showed him wearing the same distinctive clothing captured on surveillance video. Cell phone records placed both defendants at the scene at the time of the shooting.

DNA testing on a discharged cartridge casing recovered where the juvenile was shot revealed a mixture that included Davenport’s DNA.

The complaints were filed more than seven months after the shooting. Department of Corrections records show Harris has been incarcerated at MCF-St. Cloud since March 13, 2026, serving time on drug charges out of Hennepin County. His anticipated release date is May 2028. A warrant for his arrest on the murder charges has been issued and can be served at the prison.

Bail for both defendants has been set at $1.5 million. Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
