A Minneapolis man has been charged after allegedly robbing a woman at gunpoint outside her house, stealing her car and draining about $1,600 from her accounts.

Omar Jacob Cross, 21, faces one count of first-degree aggravated robbery, carrying a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, the victim was leaving her house on the 3500 block of Blaisdell Avenue in Minneapolis on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2025, when a man pointed a gun at her and grabbed her by her hair. He demanded her car key fob, wallet, phone and the login information for her phone, then drove away in her car.

The man left a glove and a flashlight behind at the scene.

After taking the car, the suspect went straight to an ATM and took out $600 from the victim’s account. He also stole about $1,000 from the victim using her cell phone and a cash app.

A subpoena showed the cash app money went through two people and ended up with Cross. An investigator confirmed Cross as the owner of the recipient cash app account.

DNA from the flashlight left at the scene was a match to Cross. ATM surveillance also corroborated his identity, specifically through unique characteristics of his eyebrow.

Cross was in custody on an unrelated matter when the warrant was issued. Brooklyn Center police had arrested him the day before on probable cause for motor vehicle theft and damage to property.

Court records show Cross also has pending misdemeanor cases in Hennepin County, including speeding, careless driving and driving without a valid license.

Cross made his first appearance Monday and posted a $15,000 conditional bond. He was released from custody the next day, with conditions of his release including electronic monitoring, having no contact with the victim and no possession of firearms. His next court appearance is set for May 21.
