A 69-year-old Hopkins man died Saturday evening after a wrong-way driver struck his car head-on on Highway 212 in Eden Prairie, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash happened at 7:51 p.m. on westbound Highway 212 at Valley View Road.
A 50-year-old Victoria woman drove her 2017 Chevrolet Colorado the wrong way, eastbound in the westbound lanes, and struck a 2014 Volkswagen Passat head-on in the left lane.
The driver of the Passat, Bohdan Antoniuk, of Hopkins, died in the crash. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
The driver of the Chevy Colorado, Amanda Lyn Merriman, was taken to Hennepin Healthcare with non-life threatening injuries. Alcohol was suspected for Merriman as a factor in the crash, the patrol said. Road conditions were reported as dry at the time.
Eden Prairie Police, Eden Prairie Fire, Hennepin EMS and state DOT crews also responded.
