A man has been convicted at trial of murder in the 2025 killing of a woman in Richfield, the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said Friday, Oct. 9.

Jose Luis Lopez Xique, 27, was convicted on all counts: first-degree premeditated murder, second-degree intentional murder and a harassment count (aggravated violations, with a dangerous weapon used in the offense), according to the county attorney’s office.

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said in the release that Lopez Xique “refused to accept” that the victim did not want a relationship.

Moriarty said the victim worked as a behavioral technician for children with special needs and was restoring her motorcycle.

A first-degree murder conviction carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, the county attorney’s office said.

Sentencing is currently scheduled for Oct. 15, 2026, at 11 a.m., according to the office.
