Two people were flown to the hospital Sunday morning after a motorcycle crash in St. Francis.

Initial reports indicated that a motorcyclist had gone off the roadway and struck a tree.

Investigators determined that an adult male driver was heading northbound on Lake George Boulevard NW with an adult female passenger when he swerved to avoid a dog in the roadway. The motorcyclist left the roadway, entered the ditch and crashed into a tree.

Both the driver and passenger were seriously injured and transported by helicopter to a hospital. Authorities say they are expected to survive their injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol. No additional details have been released.
