19-year-old Dies After Overnight Shooting at Frazee Home

A 19-year-old man was found fatally shot early Saturday after deputies were called to a reported disturbance in Frazee.

According to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, the call came in at about 2:38 a.m. on December 20 to a residence on the 700 block of West Ash Avenue.

While deputies were en route, dispatchers received information that shots had been fired and that one person had been wounded. Authorities say four suspects fled the scene in a black SUV.

When deputies arrived, they found 19-year-old Bryson Andrew May, suffering from gunshot wounds. Life-saving measures were performed at the scene before he was taken to Essentia–St. Mary’s Hospital where May was later pronounced dead.

A short time later, an Otter Tail County deputy located the suspect vehicle north of Perham. Four people believed to be connected to the incident were detained. Their identities have not been released as the investigation continues.

Sheriff’s officials say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. The case remains under investigation.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene and during the follow-up investigation, including the Frazee Police Department, Frazee Rescue, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office and Essentia–St. Mary’s EMS.
