The Forensic Services Unit will be processing the scene for evidence and investigators are working to determine what led up to the shooting. This is the 22nd homicide of 2023 in Saint Paul.

SPPD said Saturday afternoon that a 14-year-old male was arrested and placed at the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of manslaughter in relation to the incident. Family members have identified the victim as Markee Jones, 12, and say the shooting was “accidental.”
