1 Killed, Another Hospitalized After Eagan Crash

One person is dead following a three-vehicle crash involving a transit bus Friday evening in Eagan.

Officers were dispatched to the crash at the intersection of Pilot Knob Road and Lone Oak Road around 5:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2.

When responders arrived, they located an adult occupant who was pronounced dead at the scene. A second driver involved in the crash was transported to a local hospital with possible minor injuries.

Authorities later confirmed that a Minnesota Valley Transit Authority bus was one of the three vehicles involved. According to police, the bus was struck after the initial collision and was not directly involved in the crash. The bus was carrying two passengers at the time. Police say neither passengers nor the bus driver was injured.

The identity of the person who died has not yet been released. Police have not said what caused the crash or whether speed, impairment or other factors may have played a role.

The crash remains under investigation by the Eagan Police Department with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol crash reconstruction team and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
