1 Dead After Boat Capsizes Near Monticello Nuclear Plant
A man died Tuesday morning after a fishing boat capsized on the Mississippi River near the Xcel Energy plant in Monticello.
Wright County Dispatch said the call came in at 10:32 a.m. reporting that three men had gone into the water after their boat overturned.

Two of the men made it to shore safely with help from Xcel Energy staff. The third was pulled from the water unresponsive by Xcel staff and brought to shore, where deputies and medical personnel began lifesaving efforts. Those efforts were not successful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said all people involved have been accounted for and emergency crews have since cleared the area. Agencies assisting included Xcel Energy employees, Monticello Fire, the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota DNR, the Minnesota State Patrol, CentraCare and Life Link Air Ambulance.
The Wright County Sheriff’s Office said the incident remains an active death investigation.
Family members identified the man in a GoFundMe listing as 28-year-old Tyler Tasche.
