Woman Arrested After Man Shot in Head in Minneapolis

A man suffered a gunshot wound to the head Monday afternoon after an argument escalated in Minneapolis, police say.
The shooting was reported around 3:18 p.m. on Jan. 19 after dispatchers were alerted by ShotSpotter activations and multiple 911 calls.

Officers arrived near the intersection of West 15th Street and Nicollet Avenue and found the man on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head. Officers provided immediate medical aid before the man was taken by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare. His condition has not been released as of publication.
Initial information indicates the injured man had met with another man and a woman nearby. Police say an argument broke out and led to gunfire. The man was struck during the exchange.

Officers located the woman near the scene and arrested her. She was booked into the Hennepin County Jail on probable cause for first-degree assault. The other man involved left the area before officers arrived and has not been located.
Police canvassed the area for witnesses and surveillance footage while forensic scientists processed the scene and collected evidence. Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that led up to the shooting.
