2 Found Dead in Pierz Home During Welfare Check

Two people were found dead inside a Pierz home Friday morning after deputies conducted a welfare check, according to the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement responded around 10:30 a.m. for a caller requesting a welfare check at a residence in the 600 block of River Valley Road in Pierz.

Officers from the Pierz Police Department also responded. When they entered the home, they found a man and a woman dead inside.

Authorities have not released the names of the two people. Their bodies were taken to the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination, and officials say their identities will be made public after next of kin are notified.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting with the case. Investigators say there is no known threat to the public and believe the incident is isolated.

The investigation remains active and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
