Teen Robbery Suspects Crash into Bus Shelter During Minneapolis Pursuit

Six juveniles—believed to have carried out multiple armed robberies—were involved in a pursuit with officers in Minneapolis late Monday morning, eventually crashing into another driver and demolishing a bus shelter.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office says Violent Offender Task Force detectives were working on a joint operation with Minneapolis police, along with other agencies, in north Minneapolis just before noon on Monday, June 5.

Authorities say that during the operation, officers saw a vehicle driving erratically and based on the description of the vehicle, it was suspected of being involved in multiple armed robberies earlier in the day.
When detectives attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver immediately fled. Due to the violent nature of the earlier incidents, VOTF detectives and MPD officers initiated a pursuit.
The suspect driver struck another vehicle near Penn Ave. N. & Olson Memorial Hwy., occupied by an adult female who sustained minor injuries. The female bystander was treated at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. The vehicle then struck a bus shelter at the same intersection, hitting an adult male pedestrian. The male bystander was transported to the hospital via ambulance and an update on his condition is not yet available.
The suspect vehicle was occupied by six juveniles, including five males and one female, HCSO said. According to initial radio dispatches, the juveniles attempted to flee the scene on foot but they were quickly apprehended. The vehicle owner was contacted and confirmed to authorities that the vehicle had been stolen. All of the juveniles involved in the incident were treated for injuries at the scene and transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
The driver of the stolen vehicle was reportedly just 12 years old. The others involved were from 14 to 16 years old, police said.
