State Trooper Charged in Federal Child Porn Case
A Minnesota State Trooper has been federally charged with the production of child pornography.
Jeremy Francis Plonski, 29, was arrested and remains in federal custody after a criminal complaint was filed in U.S. District Court.
The charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of fifteen years in prison if he is convicted.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the charge follows an investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, opened after allegations surfaced that Plonski produced child sexual abuse material while actively serving in uniform.
Acting U.S. Attorney Lisa D. Kirkpatrick said Plonski violated both the law and the public’s trust in the “most egregious” way.
“Plonski took an oath to protect and serve our community,” Kirkpatrick said. “While donning his uniform, he committed one of the most vile and predatory offenses imaginable.”
Authorities did not disclose what specific actions Plonski is alleged to have taken while on duty or where the incidents occurred, and it’s still unknown if there may be additional victims.

State Patrol Chief Christina Bogojevic called the allegations "appalling and indefensible,” saying it was a serious violation of the law and human decency.
Bogojevic said an internal affairs investigation is underway and Plonski is on leave. He joined the State Patrol in 2022.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. described the allegations as “a gross betrayal of public trust” and that law enforcement officers are expected to protect children, not exploit them.
“When someone in a position of authority commits such an egregious and despicable crime, the damage extends beyond the victim — it shakes the very foundation of our communities’ trust,” Winston said.
The investigation was led by the FBI’s Minneapolis Field Office, with support from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Shakopee Police Department. The Minnesota State Patrol also assisted in Plonski’s arrest.
Minnesota BCA Superintendent Drew Evans echoed the sentiment, pledging the agency’s continued commitment to identifying and prosecuting individuals who harm children.
Plonski remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing, which has not yet been scheduled.
