Rochester Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, Suspect Arrested

A man has died after a Sunday night shooting in Rochester and another man is in custody, police say.
Officers were dispatched around 9:35 p.m. on Jan. 25 to the area of Marion Road Southeast & Eastwood Road Southeast, where officers found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound, a Rochester Police Department spokesperson said.

He was taken by Mayo ambulance to Saint Marys in critical condition and later died from his injuries, authorities have confirmed.
About five minutes after the shooting, officers were sent to a residence in the 2700 block of Marion Road Southeast after receiving a report that a man armed with a gun had broken into a home. Police said the man was known to the residents and was identified as the suspect in the earlier shooting. He was taken into custody without incident.

Initial information indicates the victim and the suspect were related, though their exact relationship has not yet been confirmed. Authorities said there is no known threat to the public.
