Passenger Killed When Car Hits Tractor in Mahnomen County

 

A man died Tuesday evening after the driver of the car he was riding in rear-ended a tractor towing equipment in Mahnomen County, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Troopers say the crash happened just after 7:15 p.m. Sept. 16 on Highway 200 near 110th Avenue in Marsh Creek Township.

A 2013 Dodge Avenger, driven westbound by 20-year-old Chance Eugene Keezer of Mahnomen, struck the implement being pulled by a Case International 8920 tractor, which was also headed west.

The passenger in the Dodge, 53-year-old Robert Edward Keezer of Mahnomen, died at the scene. The driver of the car was not injured. Troopers noted that alcohol was involved in the crash, though it is not yet clear whether Robert Keezer was wearing a seat belt.

The tractor was driven by a 68-year-old man of Gary, who was not injured.

The road was dry at the time. Outside agencies assisting included the White Earth Police Department, Norman County Sheriff’s Office, Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, Mahnomen Fire Department and Essentia Ambulance.

Authorities have not released further details about possible charges.
