Man Struck on I-35W in Burnsville, Critically Injured
A man was critically injured Sunday night after being struck by a driver while walking in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35W in Burnsville, authorities say.
Troopers were called around 9:35 p.m. on June 8 to the area of I-35W near Burnsville Parkway.

Initial information indicates the man was on foot in the traffic lanes when he was hit, a State Patrol spokesperson says. The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
The pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. An update on the man’s condition, his name and his age have not yet been released.

The crash prompted a full closure of the southbound lanes of I-35W as authorities worked to reconstruct the scene. Southbound traffic was diverted onto Highway 13 while emergency crews responded.
Burnsville Police, Burnsville Fire, the Minnesota State Patrol and MnDOT were all involved in the response and investigation. The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no further details have been released.
