Man Riding Scooter Killed in Saint Paul Hit-and-Run

A man riding a scooter in Saint Paul has died after being struck by a driver who fled the scene, police confirm.

The crash happened around 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the intersection of Phalen Boulevard and Rose Avenue.

Police arriving at the scene found a 65-year-old man suffering life-threatening injuries. Saint Paul Fire medics transported him to Regions Hospital for treatment.

Initial information from investigators indicates the man was riding a scooter when a driver struck him and continued driving without stopping. Authorities have not released a description of the driver or the vehicle involved.

Investigators with the Saint Paul Police Traffic and Safety Unit processed the scene and began gathering evidence related to the crash. Officials said they were notified on Thursday that the man died from his injuries at the hospital.

Authorities have not released the man’s identity and have not announced any arrests as the investigation continues. Police have not said whether speed, impairment or other factors may have played a role.
