Man Hospitalized After Downtown Minneapolis Shooting Early Sunday

Minneapolis police are investigating a shooting that left a man critically injured early Sunday after an altercation inside a downtown business spilled into the street.

Officers were headed to the 300 block of 3rd Street South just after 3:40 a.m. for a reported assault when they heard gunfire near 3rd Street and 2nd Avenue South.

At the intersection, they found a man in his 40s with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Officers gave medical aid until paramedics arrived, and the man was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Investigators say the shooting began after a confrontation inside a business on 3rd Street South continued outside and escalated to gunfire. No arrests have been made as of Sunday morning and police say the case remains under investigation.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to contact Minneapolis police.
