Responding officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later, MPD said.

The shooter fled before police arrived and no arrests have been announced as of Saturday morning, with no official suspect information released by authorities.

Minneapolis PD Forensic Scientists processed the scene while detectives worked to determine what led up to the shooting.

“The loss of a life is always tragic, and my thoughts are with the victim’s family,” Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in a written statement. “Our investigators are working to follow leads and bring some sense of justice for the victim and his family.”
