Man Dies After Being Struck by Driver Following ATV Rollover
A man died Monday after being struck by a passing driver while lying in the roadway following an ATV crash in New Market Township.
Just before 10 p.m. on July 28, Scott County deputies responded to the area of County Road 46 and 275th Street East after a caller reported an injury crash involving a car and an ATV.

Initial info from the Sheriff’s Office indicates that 28-year-old Tyler Lee Peterson had been operating a 2016 Arctic Cat ATV and overturned while entering the intersection from 275th Street East. The ATV came to rest in the northbound lane, and Peterson ended up lying in the southbound lane of County Road 46.
Moments later, a 22-year-old woman from Northfield was driving a 2014 Cadillac XTS southbound on the same roadway and struck Peterson.

Peterson was transported by first responders to Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Cadillac was not injured. Officials say she was not under the influence and had no passengers in her vehicle.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office says Peterson died due to multiple blunt force injuries and his death was ruled an accident.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Elko New Market Police Department, Elko New Market Fire Department and Northfield Ambulance all responded to the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, the State Patrol and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office.
