Homeowner Pulled from Mounds View Fire, Hospitalized

The Spring Lake Park – Blaine – Mounds View Fire Department responded to a structure fire Sunday just before 11 a.m. on a report of smoke showing from a residence on the 7000 block of Groveland Road.

In a media release, SBM Chief Dan Retka says crews arrived and found fire on the main level of the home. A neighbor reported to firefighters that the homeowner may still have been inside the home.

Crews made entry and found the homeowner, who was brought outside. Firefighters began CPR and other life-saving measures before they were brought to Hennepin Healthcare by paramedics.

No update has been provided on the victim’s condition.

More than 35 firefighters and five departments assisted with bringing the fire under control.

Retka says the state fire marshal’s office was notified and the fire remains under investigation.
