Avalos was released on his own recognizance Oct. 22 following his initial court appearance, court filings show.
The case began Oct. 9 when a TikTok user contacted the FBI after seeing a video threatening Bondi. Investigators say the video imposed a $45,000 “hit” on her, prompting immediate review by federal authorities.
The user who reported the post sent agents a screenshot of the video and the associated account. That account, according to investigators, displayed symbols linked to anarchist movements and included a link to an anarchist FAQ page in its profile.
FBI agents then reportedly traced the account back to Avalos. The complaint states he has previous convictions in multiple states, including felony stalking, felony third-degree domestic battery and misdemeanor domestic assault.
