FBI: ‘Feeding Our Future’ Fraud Case Continues in Minnesota
BY MN CRIME STAFF
FBI Director Kash Patel
The FBI says investigation into the sprawling Feeding Our Future fraud scheme in Minnesota remains active, with dozens of defendants already sentenced in one of the largest pandemic-era fraud cases in the country.
In a statement posted Sunday on X, Kash Patel said the Federal Bureau of Investigation had already surged agents and investigative resources into Minnesota before renewed attention to the case escalated online.
Patel said the FBI’s focus remains on dismantling large-scale fraud schemes that exploited federal programs intended to feed children during the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that fraud stealing from taxpayers and diverting aid from vulnerable children remains a top priority in Minnesota and nationwide.

Federal prosecutors have said the scheme centered on the Feeding Our Future network, where sham vendors and shell companies were allegedly used to submit false claims for federal child nutrition funds. According to the FBI, the investigation uncovered roughly $250 million in fraud tied to the program, along with extensive money laundering used to move and conceal proceeds.
Court records show the case has resulted in 78 indictments and 57 convictions to date. Prosecutors allege the defendants played roles ranging from wire fraud and conspiracy to laundering millions of dollars obtained through fraudulent meal reimbursement claims.
Authorities have also detailed efforts to interfere with the judicial process. Federal officials say Abdimajid Mohamed Nur and others attempted to bribe a juror with $120,000 in cash during the trial. Those involved later pleaded guilty and were sentenced, with related cases resulting in penalties that include a 10-year federal prison sentence and nearly $48 million in restitution.
Patel said investigators believe the fraud uncovered so far represents only a portion of a much larger operation and confirmed the investigation remains ongoing. The FBI says agents will continue following financial trails and pursuing additional charges where evidence supports further prosecutions.
Federal authorities also said some people connected to the case are being referred to immigration officials for potential denaturalization and deportation proceedings where legally applicable.
The Feeding Our Future prosecution continues to stand as one of the most significant fraud cases ever brought in Minnesota, with federal investigators still actively pursuing additional leads tied to pandemic-era relief funds.
